Community Service Events
Saturday, 7th May:
Cleaning of the Mosquito Breeding Grounds is one of the Community Service Events to happen this week.
Time: 09:00 and 10:00hrs
Where: at the Kinondoni TX Market area in Kinondoni district
This event is coordinated by the Tanzania House of Talent and will be linked to the Zinduka Malaria campaign.
Saturday, 7th May:
The other Community Service Event is helping Msasani Mwisho Primary School mitigate floods that have been persistent for many years at the school through building a barrier that separates the classrooms from the marshy area within the school compound.
Time: 11:00 and 12:00hrs
Where: Msasani Mwisho Primary School, Dar es Salaam
Participants to these activities are staff of the Delegation of EU, EU Member States' Missions in Tanzania, and members of the public as well as volunteers from the organisers: GNRC (Global Network for Religion for Children)/Jane Goodall Institute Roots & Shoots clubs.
Cycle Caravan
Sunday, 8th May:
A Cycle Caravan will take place. Come out and cycle with us! We expect around 500 men, women and children, both disabled and able-bodied, to raise awareness about volunteering in the society and the impact it can make in people's lives. Minister for Works, Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, has graciously agreed to join us at this event.
Time: 08:00 to 12:00hrs
Where: The caravan will begin and end at the Mnazi Mmoja grounds and the proposed route will be through Bibi Titi Mohammed Street, Kawawa Road and Uhuru Street. The has accepted to grace the occasion.
Bike Rental: For anyone who might wish to hire a bicycle for the event UWABA can organise for that at a cost of Tshs. 5000. Please let us know early to arrange for the same in time.
Reception and Launches
Monday 9th May:
• The Unveiling of Jitolee Tanzania! a Special Website that will be a hub of information and current news on volunteering
aiming at helping build a volunteer culture in Tanzania.
• The Launch of the first ever Tanzanian awards campaign dubbed ‘Tanzania Gives Back’ the awards aim to showcase
the important role that volunteering plays in the society and award Tanzanian and expatriate volunteers who give
their time and skills for free to develop communities in need.
H.E. President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to grace the occasion.
Proposed dates of the awards: To be confirmed, a date in July.

Wednesday, 11th May:
Launch of the “Decade of Action for Road Safety” in Zanzibar
A procession of pupils and teachers from four primary schools in Zanzibar Town
Time: 08:00 to 12:00hrs as part of efforts to raise road safety awareness among school children, teachers and their communities.
Where: Stonetown, Zanzibar
Organized by AMEND there will also be road safety lessons and quizzes for the 250 schools children and teachers together with other pupils and members of the public at the event.
